Festival date set for 2009 / a brief look back

After a short and well-deserved winter break the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK comes back with its first piece of NEWS: There’s a definite date for the third edition of the festival. It will take place from 1. – 11. October 2009 throughout the city of Vienna.

We are very pleased with the results from last October: About 18 000 people visited 64 design events taking place in 44 Vienna locations; around 40 local and international Designers as well as 83 programme partners here in Vienna took part in the festival. And most importantly: All of this was extremely good fun.

Besides a strong media coverage there were some special titles awarded to some designers’ works: "Wallpaper" magazine for example honoured the installation by Czech designer Maxim Velcovsky with Vienna glass specialist Lobmeyr as “best commission”.

But enough of a review – we have now turned forward, since there’s a lot of new projects to be carried through into practice until October. We will keep everyone posted,
