SCHIELE GOES 3-D – FROM PORTRAIT TO SCULPTURE

Fr 29.09.–Su 8.10.2017

Cocktail 05.10.2017 5:30pm

As dynamic platform for contemporary and traditional design, Hg5, a new business with its premises in the Palais Wilczek, invites young designers to showcase themselves in temporary settings – among them Lucretia Schmidt, who is based in London and creates sculptural renderings of famous paintings and miniatures in limited editions. Schmidt uses modern molding and casting processes as well as classical painting methods, which she learned at Madame Tussauds. As part of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, she provides intimate insights into different work processes. For the 100th anniversary of the birth of Egon Schiele in 2018, she is transposing his paintings into three-dimensional sculptures.
