On 28 September 2011 the best, most creative, and most innovative Austrian design solutions will be awarded the National Design Prize of the Federal Ministry of Economics, Family and Youth. The winning objects and concepts will be on view in the show ‘Walk of Fame’ in the designforum Wien.
The prize-winning projects include both consumer and investment goods and architectural design concepts. The recurrent theme: design as vehicle for the latest developments in terms of materials technology and thus as connecting link between progress and aesthetics. ‘The winning projects once again prove that design which is both application oriented and distinctive can provide the basis for international success stories ... The strategy of employing good design for market development and positioning might not alone suffice to bring success in a competitive market, but it is in any case an indispensable precondition.’ (Dr. Reinhold Mitterlehner, Minister of Economics, Family and Youth)
