Kohlmaier is a traditional producer of high-quality upholstered furniture that has kept its production location in the heart of the city – and this has become a rare phenomenon, even in Vienna. Its preferred materials are still horsehair, spring core and down!
The French designer Julien Carretero, now working in Brussels and who studied in Paris and Eindhoven and worked for a longer period with Maarten Baas, has found a source of inspiration in this company policy. His approach to design is extremely conceptual; he likes to play with imperfection, contrast and the generation of “flaws” that make objects unique and lend them character.
