The Windwriter

This project by Simon Andert and Martin Leithner revolves in the charged field between art and design around an elusive medium: wind. Its very essence is to surround us constantly and yet remain concealed to our most important sense. With the “Windwriter” the element of wind takes the stage as the leading, autonomous protagonist.
The machine makes the medium visible in different locations. We see recordings that take shape as abstract drawings. They present the wind as a creative force that expresses itself and its character in an utterly playful and diverting way. The project is supervised by Prof. Christian Kern and Mag.art Fridolin Welte at the department for 3-D-design and modelling.
