VIRIBUS UNITIS – RE-DESIGN10

30.9.–9.10.2016

The exhibition DESIGN10 was held for the first VIENNA DESIGN WEEK ten years ago in the Hofmobiliendepot. Exactly ten years later, the same designers and exhibition organizers are getting together again with the motto “Viribus Unitis – all pulling together” and organizing the exhibition RE-DESIGN10.

Once again, each designer confronts an object from the museum collection with an own design. The pairs of objects are scenically arranged under the direction of the Viennese design studio Walking Chair, and each pair tells its own little story. As a further development of the original concept, the pairs of objects are not placed in a neutral setting this time – an exhibition room – but juxtaposed to the historical exhibit in the permanent collection of the Hofmobiliendepot.

The exhibition in this traditional focal point of Austrian furniture design promises a fascinating dialogue between old and new and opens up new perspectives onto the museum’s holdings.

Featuring the following designers: bkm design working, group, Studio Dankl and Lisa E. Hampel, dottings, For Use, Lucy.D, Sebastian Menschhorn, Patrick Rampelotto, Polka, Robert Rüf, Soda Designers.

“Viribus Unitis” – Emperor Franz Joseph’s motto, and the centennial of his death is the subject of an exhibition in the Hofmobiliendepot – symbolizes the success of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, which in cooperation with designers, museums, and producers has been advancing Vienna for ten years as a location for design – “all pulling together”.
