LOBMEYR, Jólan van der Wiel, VIENNA DESIGN WEEK

29.9.–7.10.2017

“Let nature do the job.” This premise guided the work Dutch designer Jólan van der Wiel did for the long-established Viennese company J. & L. Lobmeyr – “An inspiring and overwhelming place for designers.” He produced a vase inspired by the flow of water and staged the company’s products in its showroom in accordance with the design process and with the aid of dozens of liters of water. In the course of his Passionswege project, van der Wiel delved deeply into J. & L. Lobmeyr’s extensive archive, inscribing in the material playful aspects of natural phenomena. “Design as a state of flow!” Q.E.D. Visitors of Rotterdam’s Museum Boijmans van Beuningen were able to witness this, where the work was exhibited immediately after the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK.
