DESIGNING REALITIES CONFERENCE 3: VR BEYOND PLAY

For some time, television was considered a window to the world. Gradually, it grew and developed, becoming, thanks to new technologies used by the entertainment industry, a gateway to virtual worlds. In his keynote, game-console mastermind Russel Harding outlined how gaming and the related gadgets contributed to augmented reality entering our living rooms a considerable amount of time ago. In a subsequent panel, international experts discussed what designers can learn from the gaming scene and where transdisciplinary potential of virtual realities can be found. The community of game developers, which enjoys experimentation, has in its fifty-year history repeatedly inspired technological and creative innovations. A number of them in virtual and augmented reality were the work of developers who explored and crossed formal and contentual borders in a playful manner
