Aufruf zum Mitmachen: South meets North

Kapstadt ist World Design Capital 2014 und Österreich wird dort mit der Plattform AustriaDesignNet zu Gast sein. Ein Anlass, sich über Design- und Innovationsprozesse in unterschiedlichen Breitengraden auszutauschen. „Südnovation“, eine Initiative von kulturen in bewegung aus Wien, zeigt in einer „Wohnzimmer“-Installation, was der Norden vom Süden für den Alltag lernen kann, wie etwa frugale Innovation, Upcycling, hochflexible und kollektive Arbeitsprozesse etc. Der Upcycling-Designer Heath Nash aus Kapstadt wird in einem dynamischen Work-in-Progress mit lokalen Partnern aus Österreich diesen kollaborativen Dialog in neue Produkte umsetzen. Auch die BesucherInnen können in diesen zehn Tagen aktiv werden:

We’re looking for interested, dedicated, inquisitive, capable and adventurous makers to join us in the work-in-progress presentation Participants can be students, professionals or amateurs, but must be willing to give freely of themselves and their skills to investigate commonalities and differences between people. All disciplines are welcome – from architects to product designers to graphic people and sculptors.

The point of the exercise is to make together, think together and generate functional content – usable objects or systems – from basic materials. Also, to begin building a bridge now between Cape Town and Vienna – a bridge that can be built upon in November when the North comes down South.
