VIENNA DESIGN WEEK at Collectible
15 Years of Passionswege
On the occasion of the 15 th year of its ongoing Passionswege format, VIENNA DESIGN WEEK will showcase a selection of unique objects in a special cooperation with Collectible Brussels. These objects are results of the in-depth collaborations between designers and craftspeople curated and commissioned by VIENNA DESIGN WEEK.
For Collectible the curators of VIENNA DESIGN WEEK have chosen the results of nine collaborations. Although they differ greatly in style, technique, material, and function, they all speak eloquently of the masterful craft skills needed to produce them as well as the innovative thinking the designers employed to tell fresh stories on the basis of these traditions.
Still, the objects on display at collectible are only a small portion of the ones conceived and made by the Passionswege teams over the last 15 years. Some were site-specific to the workshops they were shown in. Some were purely process-based, others went on to be shown in museums. The ones shown in Brussels are now the ambassadors for the whole initiative, aiming to shine a new light on the unique potential of the conversation between design and crafts.
