Artek

Artek

Artek was founded in 1935 by four young idealists: Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen, and Nils-Gustav Hahl. Their aim was to deal in furniture and promote modern home-living culture through exhibitions and other actions. The founders of Artek engaged passionately in promoting a new kind of home environment for everyday life. They believed in the synthesis of the arts and wanted to shape the development of urban planning, architecture, and design themselves.
Today, Artek is one of the most innovative enterprises in the field of modern design. The range covers furniture, lamps, and accessories by Nordic design icons and also the leading international architects, designers, and artists.
