duller/stippl

The collaboration between Anita Duller and Hannah Stippl actually began as a temporary project during their studies at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. But neither their penchant towards a maximalist approach to design, nor an enthusiasm for plants and patterns was sapped through this. Since then, they have adopted the label duller/stippl and with the help of historical pattern rollers have been developing dense painterly structures expressed as large-format wall paintings and horticultural installations. duller/stippl are eclectic and proud of being so, they are pragmatic, have an affinity to ornament, and joy in color – everything forbidden by art. They are fascinated by superimpositions and the growth of plants, likewise for the rampant proliferation of their painting. Superficially seen, their works are simply just beautiful – but are in fact not superficial. They are multi-layered, full of surprises, and mercurial.
