Ever since its foundation as a saddlery in 1896, the philosophy of the enterprise, now in its fourth generation as a family business, has been based on an awareness for quality and craftsmanship. In cooperation with renowned architects, it began producing its first pieces of furniture in the nineteen-fifties. Today, young Austrian and internationally established designers now work for Wittmann. Wittmann also sees one of its most important tasks in re-issuing designs by great architects and designers, which because of their timelessness and standards of quality are also valid today. The re-creation of Josef Hoffmann and re-edition of Friedrich Kiesler are the results of this esteem for Austrian design culture.
