Let's talk about it!

In lectures and panels, various aspects of design have been addressed at VIENNA DESIGN WEEK: Design, as an instrument in democratic politics, has been an equally important part of the focus as protest from an architectural perspective or the fascinating biography of Stefan Diez relating to design. Meanwhile a multipart conference has represented the discursive climax of the focus theme Virtual & Augmented Reality which has attracted visitors to the festival headquarters' Kenyon-Pavillon with a number of experiences. Also two departure talks have revolved around the future of urban food production and gastronomic concepts of tomorrow as part of the special format Urban Food & Design. And speaking of hospitality: Poland was guest country in 2018 so another talk has been devoted to its design scence. There has also been a number of additional opportunities for exchange, discussion, and reflection in this year's festival program.
