Several times a year the window gallery in VIENNA DESIGN OFFICE in stilwerk displays contributions from Austrian and international designers. The window gallery also functions as the display to make the multifaceted activities of the VIENNA DESIGN OFFICE visible.
This time, the Vienna Design Studio ertl.novak is our guest in the gallery window. Since 2012, the designer duo explores and grows crystals. After many experiments with different materials and cultivation methods, ertl.novak was able to derive the first application last year: CL1 is the result of their efforts - a lamp that combines an industrial product with a unique object.
The installation "GROWING CRYSTALLIGHT" in the window gallery presents the potential of crystal cultivation in an experimental context. Following on from this idea, there will be several culture vessels to give an insight into the formation of crystals in different stages of development. On selected days we will be invited to watch when ertl.novak prepares new cultivating arrangements and to learn more about crystals.

Florian first studied in the HTL to be a sport technician (Industrial Engineering department) where he graduated and recognized the value of good design in countless construction practice sessions. Consequently, he decided to study Industrial Design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
