A wonderful festival weekend has begun!
Yesterday we sounded the bell for a wonderful festival weekend! This Saturday will be sweetened up by Asian delicacies, a perfect place for children, eco-friendly inventions and elegant design solutions.
The day can be kicked-off with a visit at the Wiener Werkstätten [more] at the 18th district; afterwards we can head off to the 2nd district where Tapessier Telliez and Beza Projekt from Poland will be presenting a baroque yet futuristic swing, Hermann Trebsche will be telling us Viennese design stories at Ballons & Ballons and the German-UK based design studio PostlerFerguson will be bringing back to life Café Sonja, an abandoned Viennese coffee house. After we have been introduced to the latest trends of garden architecture at Verdarium, we can drop by at Odeon where windows will have something to say.
Marinelligasse at the 2nd district is the place to be for tonight: Design students will be presenting some outstanding projects at the Debut Exhibition; Projekt stadtpark will be showing us how urban farming works and Hauer Rumo will dedicate their presentation to wild animals in urban surroundings. One of today's main topics will be social design: Florian Rainer and Michael Fetz will be showing the results of their cooperation with Caritas Vienna, focusing on youth poverty and homelessness. Supported by the neighborhood community and a local youth centre, Esterni, a design studio from Italy will try to improve life quality around Volkert market. For those who prefer to escape from reality we highly recommend to visit the presentation of Wanderland-Hinterland where you will be delving into the magical world of a walk-in book. Last but not least, Zachl & Hanserl will let the chips fall!

Oktober 2011 an firstname.lastname@example.org

Their focus lies on the aesthetic implantation of [more] the used materials and their adaption to the production process. Among their clients are companies as Foscarini, Normann Copenhagen, Colombo Design, Kristalia, Dimensione Disegno, Novecentoundici, Deroma, Gedy and Mariani.
LucidiPeveres precise and creative approach to their design is the reason for so many awards and prizes.

The Big Festival Party
Since already seven years KEN HAYAKAWA, born 1982 in Salzburg, is not only busy with his frequent DJ gigs in Vienna, but also with producing. While early productions stood under the influence of 'atmospheric spirit', the trend now goes to 'clubfloor'. First releases with 'Vektion Musik', 'Frosty Minimal', 'FLEXschallplatten', 'Flash' are to be continued...
„Beats are straighter and more present, arrangements clearer and more trendy – without anyhow forgetting the precision of sounds on top, behind and beside.“
KEN HAYAKAWA & LUMA.LAUNISCH like mixing the world upside down. Inspired by Cyrus Teed's concept of the Hollow Earth theory and Franz Werfel's utopian fantasy, they created their live-show 'INNENWELTKOSMOS' with a reversed reality. Perceive, absorb, evolve – everything with a multidimensional stage show of music and projections.
Djane JOJA (Johanna Mayr-Keber) is a student of architecture in vienna and started her music career already some years ago. Since two years she has her own, weekly radioshow on 98.3 superfly.fm. For Joja music is like an international and transboundary language, what she expresses perfactly with her diversity of styles: from dubstep and future fantasy metal to (tech-)house, Hip Hop and dessen roots…
Berlin-based, Swiss-born QUARION (aka Ianeq) started his musiccareer with HipHop MC samples and created eclectic techno-house tracks under the synonym Enterplay. At the moment he's busy with renewing and mixing already influential house and techno-tracks.
GEORGE FITZGERALD first came to prominence with his “Don’t You” cut on Scuba’s Sub:stance mix. Fast-forward a year and he had his first release on Hotflush. Effortlessly fusing garage & house-warmed melodies with clipped 2-step patterns and big bottom ends, he is one of the finest young producers to emerge in the UK bass music scene in recent times.
The VJ collective #WEMAKEVISUALS was founded in 2007 by gaffaa and keinponny in Burgenland/ Austria. They are working with highly diverse genres, from club and cyberpunk to anarchy. #wemakevisuals describe their work as clear minimal graphics with political influences.
Established as a classical design studio in 2005 by Michael Zagorski and Markus Raffelsberger, VALENCE very soon turned into one of the most popular VJ Teams in Austria. Valence generates with fantastic, hybrid mixes, analogue and digital technics highly contrasty visual storylines.
VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2011 Video Teaser
Postler Ferguson at the Vienna Design Week 2011
The Duo is describing itself as a multidisciplinary design consultancy which deals with the aspects of culture, techniques and economics through modern design strategies.
Their approach is very [more] systematic, nearly scientific, what leads to constantly new questions and challenges.
Lately at the Belgrad Design Week they presented their conceptual packaging system 'Brotzeit', which should improve the quality of airline meals. That's a very important topic for PostlerFerguson, because for them sustainability starts with quality.
Since some time PostlerFerguson are in cooperation with the Victoria & Albert Museum London, where they will take part in the 'Power of Making' exhibition until the end of 2011.
Reason for that was their temporary installation 'Wunderboxes' for the entrance hall of the museum. 'Wunderboxes' consisted of different, orange lightened cardboxes, displaying a variety of three dimensional models to create an abstract but strangely familiar collection of 'things'.
At the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2011 PostlerFerguson will create a temporary coffehouse, 'Café Sonja', in the second district which will be the local designer meetingpoint besides Cafe Drechsler.

After [more] his studies at the Ecole Cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL) 2008, Tomas Kral founded his product design studio at Lausanne. His work focuses on industrial production and science, visualized through crossing various processes and materials.
Inspired by traditions mixed with new solutions and a humorous and curious approach, Tomas Kral attracted attention of international labels such as PCM (Spain), Christofle (Paris), or Foundry (Singapore).
Within the scope of VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2011, the young designer will cooperate with Mühlbauer, a traditional Viennese hat manufacturer. Klaus Mühlbauer and his sister Marlies are already the fourth generation running the family business. The return to traditional elements of hat production advanced the company to an internationally known label exporting to high class boutiques all over the world. Stars such as Meryl Streep, Yoko Ono, Brad Pitt or Madonna are some of Mühlbauer's regular customers.

Beza Projekt [more] founded by the Polish designers Anna Łoskiewicz and Zofia Strumiłło-Sukiennik mainly focuses on the exploration of design. Their projects range from everyday products to unique pieces exclusively developed for exhibitions. Another main goal besides the practical function of their products is sheer irony and the talent to put a smile on people's faces.
Beza Projekt will cooperate with one ofAustria's last tapessiers, Philippe Telliez who, located in his Viennese atelier, creates home décor which brings back memories of the good old days.
