Sebastian Herkner (*1981) studied product design at the HfG (University of Design) in Offenbach/Main. During his studies he was already concentrating on the design of objects and furniture with which he linked together different cultural contexts, combined new technologies with traditional handicraft, which accentuates the multifaceted beauty of the materials and casts a new light on small details. While still a student he already worked for Stella McCartney in London, where he honed his awareness for materials, colours and textures. In 2006 he founded his own studio in Offenbach, where he works for manufacturers including ClassiCon, Moroso, Verreum etc., and also for interior design projects and museums. In 2011 he won the prize for young talent at the German Design Awards.
