Technisches Museum Wien

With its unique collection of objects and thematic exhibitions, displayed in an area of over 22.000 square meters, the over 100-year-old Vienna Technical Museum plays a special role on the Austrian museum landscape. It offers a wide spectrum of possibilities to explore technology and its history, and also the neighboring disciplines.

With such a diversity of versions and models, the museum with its objects is not least a guardian of anonymous and normal design, removed from the lifestyle- and star designer-driven view of design. It takes on an important role in the functional and cultural localization and judgment of design. The permanent exhibition Everyday Life – Directions for Use is the best example of this.
