8.10.2008, 7pm
In recent years, particularly in Anglo-Saxon countries "South African Contemporary Design" has developed into a success story and a "must-have" for the design-loving public. The design objects of South Africans presented at HABARI Vienna need not mention their international awards to the viewer and now also prompt design-lovers in Central Europe to a nod of recognition.
Representatives of this design wave presenting themselves at HABARI Vienna:
Heath Nash, his lamps, which illuminate and simultaneously reflect his ideas on recyclability and finite resources; Johno du Plessis, who breathes new life into an old art of embroidery and Carrol Boyes, who has been selling her exclusive tableware for years on New York's 5th Avenue and counts among her customers not least Madonna, Sting and Nelson Mandela.
On 8 October Heath Nash will personally be present at HABARI Vienna and with a representative of the Austrian design scene will be discussing the theme: "Design and Context. Is design culturally-ethnically founded and/or readable?"
