The white plastic stool, the monobloc, is one of the cheapest, most widely used pieces of furniture, and has become such an integral part of our lives that no one thinks about its form or appearance any more.
In addition, it is light, flexible, stackable, and weather resistant—all parameters characteristic of a good material. So we have decided to regard it as just that: as material, a component, liberated from its function as a seating element – and to use this industrial component to create a figure on top of the roof of the hot dog stand on the Albertinaplatz. The goal is not the individualisation of a single stool, but rather, the creation of an individual arrangement making use of the stool. And thus one could almost pose the question: “Which came first, the chicken or the monobloc?”
A wine-tasting party with DJ will take place on Friday, 1 October 2010, beginning at 9 pm. at the hot dog stand on the Albertinaplatz.
