What does hygiene mean in the twenty-first century? What disgusts us about it, and what do we accept without problem? The designer pair DANKLHAMPEL asked clean freaks and numerous Joe Publics which and how many hygiene articles they used and possessed. To coincide with the special exhibition ‘Intimate Witnesses: From the Washstand to the Bathroom’, an intervention in the permanent collection will show these varying ‘hygiene profiles’ and present the Hofmobiliendepot [Imperial Furniture Collection] and its door handles, toilets, and handrails as ‘Contact Zones’ of a special kind.
