GENERATION: TH E BEST OF YOUNG CZECH DESIGN

“Where is home?” was emblazoned on a panel in the entrance area of the group
exhibition held on invitation of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK.
The public received a potential answer during their visit: Home is where the art is. Because, embedded in architecture consisting purely of Ikea tables, an exhibition was presented here by a dozen aspiring designers and studios who have launched out from the Czech Republic during the last ten years to become established on the international scene. In contrast to the mainstream of their lifestyles and individual exhibition contributions frequently based on local
handicraft traditions, the show demonstrated in six thematic sections a progressive maturation process that is taking place on the multifaceted design scene. A panoramic pan shot through brilliant design homegrown in the Czech Republic. Curated by Adam Štěch.
