LIFE ON MARS: FICTIONAL FILM SETS

New Design University (NDU) St. Pölten

1.10.2016, 3pm–5pm

How do students of interior architecture imagine life on Mars? The NDU is providing the answer to this question in the form of a walk-in film set, constructed in only three days in a guest project by Joseph Popper and Bernhard Ranner. On a scale of 1:1, the interiors of a (fictional) space habitat, despite being made of the simplest materials, cardboard and paper for instance, allow a short sojourn on a popculture Mars. Inspirational sources for the spatial and visual narratives come from selected science fiction films.

Visitors are invited to a workshop to make props like space suits and helmets.
