A magazine can be two things: a depot or store, for instance. But in English mainly a “richly illustrated, entertaining, or popularly informative printed periodical”. In the design experiment in the Festival Headquarters, the two meanings were represented in a way – both the journalistic and the building
connotations. For the tenth anniversary of the festival, Austrian graphic designers were invited to compile impressions of one festival day each and interpret them the following day in an ad-hoc magazine in a freely accessible
Open Office. The outcome was well worth seeing – the multifaceted compendium was published in a limited edition as the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK’s own publication. Ten years, ten days, ten double spreads!
