Urban or rural? What sounds like opposites in this case turned out to be a symbiotic relationship, fertile soil, a playground for young London designers. Under the direction of the design collective diaméter, students of the Royal College of Art (RCA) London were inspired to reflect on their position as designers in relation to the expertise gathered in the Werkraum Bregenzerwald, where handmade crafts are cultivated as a part of a local community. The objects – from a daybed to a table lamp – made these encounters with the region’s outstanding crafts impressively visible. The workshops of Felder Metall, Mohr Polster, Tischlerei Bereuter, Oberhauser & Schedler Bau, Strolz Leuchten, and Schwarzmann, das Fenster served as research laboratories.
