INNER STRUCTURE – NATURAL REALITIES

Lavinia Hausner und Christian Lutz

29.9.–8.10.2017

That’s wood too, and that’s leather too. The only difference is the perspective, and the method of processing. By emphasizing inner structures, Lavinia Hausner and Christian Lutz put on display qualities of the two materials that are rarely paid attention to. For example, what happens when inner tissues such as pig bladders are tanned and processed further was shown in a remarkable way by a cloud-like blue-and-red seat. Wood’s surface is normally smoothed, in contrast to its natural shape. How this material’s natural structure can be made visible and tangible by means of brushing without the material being flattened as a result was shown by two other prototypes. Inner values were the most important thing.
