TOUR 4: URBAN WEST-END VIENNA, Studio tour
VIENNA DESIGN WEEK
6.10.2017, 3.30pm–5.30pm
Three different tours, three different architectural perspectives onto the 15th district:
Starting out at the Festival Headquarters and temporary exhibition venues of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, the tours and their cosmopolitan flair conveyed multifaceted impressions of Vienna’s west end – studio visits, a neighborhood tour, and a guided tour through the legendary Stadthalle.
The Wiener Stadthalle: Exclusive guided tour through the historic main building (Roland Rainer, 1958), also backstage areas and annex Halle F together with Dietrich | Untertrifaller Architekten (2006). Short guided overview tour through the Festival Headquarters North.
Neighborhood tour: Start in the former branch of the Zentralsparkasse (Johann Georg Gsteu, 1970–1974). Multifaceted route to the Vienna Westbahnhof with ist annexes and reconstructions by Neumann+Steiner. Numerous highlights like the urban topos (HOLODECK architects) and the new restaurant ON (BWM Architekten).
Studio tour: Views into the workplaces of Dietrich | Untertrifaller Architekten and architect Albert Wimmer in industrial-age factory buildings. To finish off: short guided overview tour through the Festival Headquarters South on Sparkassaplatz (Johann Georg Gsteu, 1970–1974).
