The shop that opened in the Jewish Museum Vienna in 2018, Gottfried & Söhne, is a veritable jewelry box. As a location for a wide variety of encounters in line with the century-old idea of the salon, it’s dedicated to a selected assortment of literature, music, and design, and is the first store in Europe to feature contemporary design from Israel. A selection of Jewish and Israeli jewelry was on display here for the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. This included works by the Viennese designers Miriam Orth-Blau (Meshugge) and Nicolas Gold (Sheyn), an Israeli resident of Vienna and graduate of the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The labels Braillo – unisex jewelry with Braille – and Ruby Star, and the designer Avigail Talmor (For Those Who Pray), are from Israel.
