EGG TO GO
27.9.–6.10.2019
“Chicken Run” was yesterday’s news. The future is: Run by Chicken. In addition to an egg booth run by chickens, the focus of the speculative design project EGG TO GO is the idea of a fictitious city where humans and animals live as equals. Liberated from the classic barnyard setting, the urban habitat offers live stock a sufficient amount of space in addition to, most importantly, independence. Now that they’re able to sell food without the aid of humans, they are finally at eye level with them. In return, they develop intelligent technologies that employ their own bodies as energy sources and natural resources. In the course of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, the chickens will invite all city dwellers to begin their day with a freshly boiled egg. As a critical examination of the themes of food production and its effect on our environment, EGG TO GO takes a look at what a city would be like where humans and animals share living space as equal partners.
Eggs are available every day from 11am at Karls Garten (Treitlstraße 2, 1040), while supplies last.
