Glass has a number of different facets – and for nearly 200 years, Vienna’s longestablished manufactory J. & L. Lobmeyr has transformed it into lasting products with the most interesting designers of the day. After the series of lights “Captured” in 2012, designer Michael Anastassiades has turned to the archaic beauty of broken glass, for example in the new cup collection “Flint.” Flint hand axes with shell-shaped ridged faces are considered the first objects designed by humans, and the working of stone as the model for glass making. Thinking back to the origins of civilized techniques, Anastassia des demanded of those responsible at J. & L. Lobmeyr extremely precise production to do justice to his idea in a haptic sense.
