Ever had breakfast with a designer? At VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2020, early birds were able to eat muesli in the Grätzlhotel on Meidlinger Markt with Walter Grill, while chatting with him about the innovative furniture that was one show. The menu included coffee and organic muesli from Verival, which was served in specially designed porcelain bowls.

But back to the new type of furniture: There’s furniture for sitting on and furniture for lying on – but there’s hardly any furniture for leaning on. This is astonishing. For who has never leant on a tree, a kitchen, or a wall? Exactly! For several years, Walter Grill has been designing pieces of furniture for precisely this posture. Of course: One could simply build a sloping wall, but this wouldn’t necessarily be mobile. And, in any case: What is the ideal ‘angle of lean’? In his presentation, Grill displayed prototypes and working models, the use of which was expressly desired! Conclusion — one can breakfast perfectly in a leaning position!
