NATURPHILIA
Schloss Hollenegg for Design, mischer'traxler studio
25.9.–4.10.2020
Finding oneself in the heart of the forest while gazing out over the rooftops of Meidling … not possible? Oh yes it is! Alice Stori Liechtenstein of Schloss Hollenegg for Design in Styria marked VIENNA DESIGN WEEK by bringing natural and design objects from the Green Heart of Austria to a photo studio in the heart of the Twelfth District. The curator was joined by mischer’traxler studio in creating the exhibition NATURPHILIA, in which selected objects introduced wild nature into our daily lives. During the festival, the curator opened the doors of the studio – rather than of the castle – personally and guided visitors past insects swarming around in glass lamps, jewels nestling in moss, and seats overgrown with greenery. The exhibition items and the bewitching forest settings invited visitors to reflect upon their own relationship with the natural and the artificial and enabled them – despite their masks – to deeply inhale the odors of the forest in the midst of the urban jungle.
