As a design tool, color is undoubtedly as powerful as it is important. During VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2020, the watch collection “True Thinline Les CouleursTM Le Corbusier” by Rado could be admired on the first floor of this year’s Festival Headquarters in the Amtshaus Theresienbadgasse. A total of nine, limited-edition special models have been created as part of a partnership between Les Couleurs Suisse and the Swiss label Rado. The timepieces shown in the installation are inspired by the color keyboard of Le Corbusier, the Swiss artist, architect, and pioneer of modern design. His architectural polychromy was developed between 1931 and 1959 and includes 63 colors with an architectural significance. The colors are used by numerous architects and designers to this day. However, the watches in the exhibition could be seen not only behind glass, but also on the wrist of the director of the DESIGN WEEK Lilli Hollein – a different color every day.
