VIENNA DESIGN WEEK

29.9.2020, 2pm–5.30pm

In 2020, the members of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK team offered personal tours through the festival and their own specialist areas for the very first time. Laura Winkler, bundle-of-energy and project manager of the Program Partner format, was joined by participants in the Radtour on a visit to program items throughout the city. As they travelled, the urban diversity of the festival emerged, and they saw that this stretched far beyond the borders of the district of Meidling. The Team Tour included a total of five stops at each of which Laura and specially selected Program Partners offered an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes of the festival. Hence, the group cycled from the Festival Headquarters in the Amtshaus Theresienbadgasse to NATURPHILIA in Meidling, before continuing to Klemens Schillinger at Rauminhalt in Schleifmühlgasse, and then to Gottfried und Söhne in the Jewish Museum in the First District. The next stop was the temporary furniture showroom by ohne butter in Wildpretmarkt in the City Center, before the group of cyclists rounded off the tour by dashing to Petra Gell’s exhibition in the Second District. All of this took just three hours, which included 45 minutes in the saddle, a total climb of 35 meters, and a total descent of 66 meters.
