The theme of the personal Team Tour of Hanna Facchinelli, project manager of the Stadtarbeit format, was “Social Design”. She invited participants on a short, urban voyage of discovery through Vienna’s 17th and 18th Districts. The first station was the INSTITUTE FOR VALUATION that, as part of the festival, asked the question of how much value is really to be found in a vacant plot. The gap in the urban grain that played host to the intervention was one of two Stadtarbeit projects that were realized in cooperation with and supported by Erste Bank. The second was the ARCHE, a temporary garden in the urban jungle. The team behind this initiative also set itself the task of freeing up urban, social, and vegetable potential. The third and final station on the Social Design voyage of discovery was dottings Industrial Design, a studio in the Eighteenth District. In spring, this had intensely addressed the subject of communication and, as part of Vienna City Council’s PLAUDERECKN project, had created a piece of corona-conform seating furniture for the public realm.
