The designer Miki Martinek adapted to corona by shifting the exercise sessions that she offered to Zoom, enabling festival visitors to move in unison virtually, every day (!). The so-called Freemotion Sessions, which were led by Sandra Ableitner, were best spent on a hand-knitted WOOL MOI, an exercise mat from soft sheep’s wool. With its soft and organic material, the WOOL MOI invites users to make contact with their real selves after just a few exercises. Once grounded, the participants in the Freemotion Session could fully focus on their own body, their breathing, and the dance. Despite the virtual nature of the instructions and the fellow participants, it was wonderful to escape one’s daily routine and, in the feverish heart of the festival, to consciously allow the body, rather than the head, to do the talking.
