The exhibition OFF-MARKET DESIGN presents carpets that, rather than being destined for the design market, were woven for the makers’ own use. It pays homage to the creative skill of the weavers, who make a major contribution to the international design world despite their lack of any relevant art training or knowledge of the western market. The focus of the showcase is a series of exhibits, whose use of recycled textiles demonstrates exceptional artistic qualities and which serve as an inspiration for a counter-model to consumption-oriented mass production.
