The calligrapher and designer Claudia Dzengel lives and works in the heart of this year’s Focus District of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. As part of the festival, the lettering artist invites visitors to look over her shoulder as she works, or to design their own (greetings) card. In her atelier close to Vienna’s Augarten, Dzengel offers calligraphy and hand lettering courses and carries out commissions for individual lettering, handwritten logos, and texts. By modulating her line and working with the interplay between form, movement, and rhythm, she develops typefaces, in which all facets of the art of calligraphy are able to unfold.

In parallel with the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, the artist is staging a solo exhibition in the Schriftmuseum Bartlhaus in Pettenbach in Upper Austria. Further events and calligraphy courses can be found on Claudia Dzengel’s website.
