Arabidopsis thaliana is a plant that grows all around the world but develops very differently depending upon the local climate, weather, and soil conditions. It responds to changes in its environment by adapting its genes and hormones. The installation ARABIDOPSIS SYMPHONY uses real-time local data, augmented reality, and music to translate these invisible processes into a constantly evolving immersive experience. The intervention can be seen in front of the Haus des Meeres, right around the clock. A smartphone with internet access and headphones are required.
The VIENNA DESIGN WEEK is a member of World Design Weeks, who initiated this experience to come to Vienna.
