AT HOME WITH THE VIENNESE VASES
16.–25.9.2022
“Yes, keep your shoes on. Everyone does!” Viennese artists move into a shared apartment and show how vases can be. Such pots made from a range of materials fill three rooms in the Festival Headquarters in the GASSE. And everybody’s welcome – except people with baseball bats or those who trip over their own feet with unnerving regularity. “The flowers are beautiful, wow. Tulips! We love tulips!”
Sculpted, thrown, and poured vases from ceramic, porcelain, or hand-blown glass take their places around the shared apartment and invite visitors to participate in a visual dialogue. In this way, the pieces on show communicate, some loudly and some subtly, the formal languages, materials, and widely varying working methods adopted by these Viennese artists when faced with the task of designing a vase.
With works by: Gregor Titze, Berit Reuter, Teresa Berger, Isabella Fürst, Christian Hoffelner, Klemens Schillinger, Ena Kirchner, Simone Oberlechner, Agnieszka Baginska, Cristina Fiorenza, Daniel Stuhlpfarrer, Eva Maria Zangerle, Julia Geissler, Julia Rublow, Luisa Franz Kleopatra and Stefanie Koemeda
