In the 1930s, Frederick Kiesler developed his theory of Correalism, a form of transdisciplinary research into the creative process in architecture and design. He created terms such as “co-reality” and “correlation”, which describe the relationship between three interacting energy fields. And the focus of the natural, human-made, and technical environments is always people. During the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, treasures from the archive that relate to Kiesler’s pioneering teaching and research work in the Laboratory for Design Correlation at Columbia University in New York (1937–41) are being presented in the form of a workshop situation in the premises of the Austrian Frederick and Lillian Kiesler Private Foundation on Mariahilfer Straße.
