PEOPLE MAKE CLOTHES!

Technisches Museum Wien mit österreichischer Mediathek

25.–29.9.2023

Building on the exhibition “Energy Transition – A Race Against Time” in Vienna Museum of Science and Technology, roadLAB – the museum’s mobile maker space – presents two principles of sustainable consumption, repair and recycle, in the garden of the Festival Headquarters of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. Participants in the open workshops gain inspiration from the Vienna label Dead White Men’s Clothes, which returns second-hand clothing to Europe from Ghana’s overfilled markets and forces us to take a look at ourselves in the mirror with the help of some clever motifs. After being introduced to the use of such machines as the cutting plotter or the transfer press, visitors are invited to upgrade their old clothes with the help of their own motifs. The workshops are aimed at young people from the age of 12. Participation is free and no advance registration is required.
