EDITION #4: DUFTWOLKE

Saint Charles Apotheke, Matthias Zykan, and the designer Lena Beigel responded to an initiative from the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK by devoting themselves to reimagining a criminally underrated genre of scent: Starting with the complex of emotions evoked by not-exactly-new cars and the tree-shaped air fresheners that hang from their rear-view mirrors, they developed an olfactory controversy on the basis of around a dozen natural essential oils. In order to give contemporary form to this reinterpretation of the room scent, the designer Lena Beigel developed an article that not only emits the scent but also matches it at both the material and aesthetic levels. The resulting hanging object is no longer a disposable product but, rather, a reusable and customizable dispenser for the car or a small room.
