A SECOND LIFE FOR NEOPRENE

blass und orange, DIE KÜMMEREI

26.9.–5.10.2025

In collaboration with the socio-economic employment project DIE KÜMMEREI, designer Jasmin Bermadinger is giving used wetsuits a second life. To do so, her design studio blass & orange examines, dismantles, and evaluates artificial foamed rubber, which usually ends up in waste incineration after a service life of around five to ten years, and uses it as raw material for new designs. At FAIRtigung Textil, a division of DIE KÜMMEREI, individuals facing barriers to employment who receive practical training here to help them re-enter the workforce produce the new products – and thereby extend the life cycle of neoprene.
