This year, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK engaged in matchmaking: Under the label Mixer!, designers were paired with unexpected locations around the city. Project manager and matchmaker Alma Fiala’s bike tour highlights these connections. The sustainable concept store & Friends showcases handmade lamps by Müge Du’s Endless Flat Studio. Next, the tour stops at the Saint Charles Apotheke, a pharmacy where the Ecuadorian brand ASET. presents modular furniture and everyday objects made of stainless steel in a soothing atmosphere. Nearby, at the bar IF DOGS RUN FREE, the room becomes a stage: Doinshapes by Yelyzaveta Rudenok presents an interactive installation that playfully challenges stereotypes. The tour concludes with a visit to Atelier z57, where the group exhibition CMD + SHIFT + D/ESIGN, featuring works by graduates of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), is presented in a hidden architectural gem with a fabulous roof garden. On display are design projects that envision a better future. A match made in heaven!
