TEAM TOUR: SOCIAL DESIGN
VIENNA DESIGN WEEK
Reimagining intermediate spaces, questioning urban use patterns and opening up new, temporary pieces of city. From its starting point at the INSTITUTE FOR VALUATION, which seeks to investigate the true value of vacant plots, Hanna Facchinelli, the project manager of the format Stadtarbeit, which is being realized in cooperation with and with the support of Erste Bank, leads the tour to the project ARCHE: In creating this temporary garden in the urban jungle, the team of the initiative has set itself the objective of unlocking urban, social and vegetative potential. The third and final station in this social design voyage of discovery is dottings Industrial Design, a studio that, in spring, addressed the subject of communication in great detail and designed a corona-compliant seating element for the public realm as part of Vienna City Council’s PLAUDERECKN project. In its exhibition, the studio also offers an overview of previous work and presents, amongst other things, products from its social business GOODGOODs, which brings to market fairly-priced sustainable design products manufactured in sheltered workshops.
