Stadtarbeit
Vermehrt Schönes!
Social design for Vienna! The VIENNA DESIGN WEEK’s Stadtarbeit format – which is supported by Vermehrt Schönes!, the sponsorship program of Erste Bank, and organized in cooperation with Caritas Wien – is an internationally respected framework for the implementation of social design ideas.
In the run-up to the festival, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, supported by Erste Bank, issued their tenth (!) open call inviting people to submit projects, ideas, and concepts that address the social challenges of our urban co-existence, analyze urban spaces, and – ideally – improve cooperation between social groups. The three selected interventions propose three very different strategies for addressing the needs and interests of city dwellers and reinforcing the resilience of local communities against the background of today’s social, ecological, and economic challenges. All three projects take place in public spaces and in partnership with social institutions. They invite participation and encourage exchange between local players, designers, and all festival visitors.
This is the tenth year in which a jury has selected projects. The prize includes an implementation budget that enables them to be realized as part of the format Stadtarbeit. The selected projects are also being presented with the Erste Bank Social Design Prize during the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2024.
