World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 (WDC 2026)
Frankfurt RheinMain in Vienna: As of late, not only national states such as Switzerland or Finland can showcase their design scenes at the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, but also cross-border areas, regions, districts, or – as is the case this year – the next World Design Capital. Every two years, the World Design Organization awards this title to a city or region. On the way to its project year, the World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 is hosting an exhibition and interactive program in Vienna and, 100 years after the revolutionary urban planning program Neues Frankfurt, which also gave rise to Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky’s groundbreaking kitchen, is presenting a detailed insight into the creative work of the metropolitan region.
Across all formats, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK has also invited designers from the World Design Capital 2026 community, who are a central part of this year’s festival through their participation in the formats Passionswege (Studio Kai Linke) and Stadtarbeit (studio pari–pari).
