MissionAcoustic Manifesto
What began seven years ago as a digital planning tool has evolved into Mission Acoustic – a platform that connects architects and interior designers with sustainable, design-oriented acoustic solutions from more than 35 renowned brands. On the occasion of the 20th edition of VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, this world will become tangible for the first time: An exhibition format at the intersection of design, room acoustics, science, and technology not only brings the platform to life as a multi-part experience but also showcases it through a seven-meter-long acoustic tunnel.
This immersive journey through sound, materials, and contemporary acoustic design showcases experimental prototypes developed in collaboration with the University of Applied Arts Vienna and through the joint efforts of students, designers, and leading acoustic brands acunic, CEWE, Oido, PREFORM, and Rockfon, alongside an unconventional main installation that brings together products, materials, mounting systems, reference projects, and new application possibilities.
The Chamber Room also recreates the bustling atmosphere of a noisy Austrian pub (“Beisl”), while the Listening Room illustrates acoustic design possibilities through its sophisticated interior. Showcases featuring additional sound objects by emerging designers, as well as mood boards and planning options from the Mission Acoustic catalog, round out the exhibition and offer architects practical solutions.
