Routes through VIENNA DESIGN WEEK

Discover design while rediscovering Vienna: The venues for VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2026 are once again spread across the entire city. To provide a great overview of the numerous exhibitions, installations, and events, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK routes bundle selected program highlights into easily planable experiences.

The routes link program points on specific days, leading from well-known design destinations—such as workshops, galleries, and museums—to rewarding new discoveries within the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK program. They can be explored individually and at your own pace—on foot or, in the case of the North Route, by bicycle.

The routes are not only a guide to help navigate the extensive VIENNA DESIGN WEEK program, but above all an invitation to discover something new and experience the city from a design perspective for a few hours.

To mark the kick-off of the festival, this route leads to five stops along the Passionswege in Vienna’s city center. Set among traditional workshops and shops, you can experience how contemporary design encounters Viennese craftsmanship, along with its rich history and future.

The route begins at the Mühlbauer Hutmanufaktur, continues to Rudolf Scheer & Söhne, to Christophe de la Fontaine at A. E. Köchert Juweliere, to the Wiener Silber Manufactur, Wäscheflott with chmara.rosinke, and ends at the LOBMEYR Flagship Store.

A compact stroll through the northern city center connects three international program highlights of VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. From the Slovak Institute Vienna, the route leads to the Gallery of the Polish Institute Vienna and finally to the LAUFEN space Vienna.

This allows you to combine three exhibitions and events in a single evening. Registration is required for the program point at LAUFEN space.

Six stops, one walk straight through the city center, connecting furniture, lighting, graphic design, photography, architecture, and design history.

From the reopened showroom of Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten, the route leads via Behan & Thurm, STEININGER, and Royal Maison to the AIL – Angewandte Interdisciplinary Lab and finally to the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), where an exhibition looks back on 20 years of poster designs for VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. The route can be started, paused, and resumed individually during the overlapping opening hours.

Route SixSeven

The 6th and 7th districts have long been among Vienna's most densely concentrated design neighborhoods. This route combines five stops into a varied evening walk.

It starts at trop, then leads via VOLA and the Möbelmuseum Wien (Vienna Furniture Museum) to the presentation by Marion Friedmann Gallery at the Amizzi store, and finally to the ZAVADSKI Showroom.

Route Nord

Sun Oct 4, 2–6 pm
Zone Nord

Bike tour!

To round off the festival, head north on two wheels. This route connects program highlights in the 9th, 2nd, and 20th districts, making the path between four very different contributions to VIENNA DESIGN WEEK an integral part of the festival experience itself.

It starts at Atelier FĒ on Mosergasse. From there, head to Bureau Fomo for a bit of wellness, continue to The Social Hub, where flexi studio is exhibiting, and finally end up at Design in Gesellschaft and their model railway on Engerthstraße.
